Law Enforcement
One of the most emotionally challenging parts of a Police Officer's job is assisting victims of crime. Police cadets are trained how to respond to the shock and many conflicting emotions that victims of crime experience. By looking at crises in their own lives, they can relate to the crisis of a victim or their family member, and better provide support and restore a sense of security to those involved. Law enforcement and victim assistance providers are first responders to victims and their families making sure that victims receive care, know their rights, and receive appropriate information about the criminal justice process including victim compensation, counseling resources, and help with victim impact statements. Crime Victims Council seeks to partner with local law enforcement in an effort to bring our presence closer to the communities we serve.
